Abstract

This article aims to conduct a theological review of the text Psalm 137:1-9 from the perspective of the Gospel’s encounter with religious pluralism. In recent years, a new perception of a pluralistic environment has emerged, where pluralism is rapidly forming the character of a theology. Therefore, like it or not, a re-interpretation of the Bible is needed to minimize the friction that occurs in every encounter with pluralism. Therefore, the author will attempt to outline the conceptual idea of re-interpretation of the Gospel and confront it with the text of Psalm 137:1-9 using a missional hermeneutic approach. This article concludes that claiming that the Gospel is true for everyone is a forms of hubris. The Gospel must be allowed as one opinion among many others.
